Why Keyword Research Is the Most Important Part Of SEO & SEM?

Keyword Research is one of Three important SEO factors along with link building, and content marketing.

The difference between a website that gets tons of organic searches and one that gets none is in the keywords that you use.

By using effective keyword research tools you can determine a popular (profitable niche), find related markets, rank well in search engines for specific topics to drive traffic to your site and promote your products and/or services by enhancing your marketing effectiveness.

By finding out what people are searching for you on keyword research put yourself in a strong position to help them achieve their goals as well as yours.

Asking these THREE critical questions can help you determine what a good keyword is:

1.  Are my keywords research targeting what people are searching for?

2. Will the searchers who find my site using these keywords find the answers to their questions?

3. Will this traffic help me reach my goals, monetary, email sign ups or other?

If you can’t answer these three questions than you should change the keyword research strategy that you are using.

WHAT IS KEYWORD?

A keyword research is a specific word that someone types into a search engine to find a topic they are looking for.

So for example: SEO would be considered a single keyword phrase and a search engine such as google would give a large and broad number of results on anything related to SEO that it felt was relevant to your search based on popular search queries for that term.

It then ranks the results in order depending on what it feels you were most interested in and what would provide the best answer to your query.

THE VALUE OF USING LONG TAIL KEYWORDS

A long tail keyword would be something like: SEO tips for blogs which is a more specific search term and would bring back a lower number of searches in the search engines, but the search results it does bring back would most likely be closer to what the searcher actually looking for.

This is great because it allows you to eliminate any traffic that wasn’t interested in your specific topic while also minimizing your competition since long tail keywords are used less frequently on other websites.

The longer and more specific your keywords are the less people will search for them, but the more likely you are to rank well because not only is there less competition since there is a bigger chance most pages aren’t optimized for those long tail keyword research.

It is also great because your topic is much more specific than just SEO which a search engine could think means SEO systems, SEO tools, SEO for corporations, changes in SEO and so on, and show them all as relevant terms.

The more specific you are the better your chances of being ranked well for those specific long tail keywords are.

KEYWORD DIFFICULTY

Understanding how difficult a keyword is to rank well in search engines is the second step in finding the right keywords to target. When you find several keywords that fit the first THREE critical questions ask your self:

  1. How many people are searching for your keywords?

2. What’s your level of competition?

3. How many sites are targeting the same keywords as you?

This is critical in finding out whether or not your keywords will rank well in the search engines.

You may know exactly what people are searching for, have the best answers for them on your site, and know that those keyword research are great money makers, but if no one can find you because your competition is too strong all of your SEO efforts could be wasted.

SEO TOOLS

This is where SEO tools become important for ranking well. Many (if not all) of the high-ranking pages you see in search engines use tools to allow them to understand their market.

In order to know your competition, market and possible monetary value of your keywords you need to have the right tools that will analyze your keyword research and content, and give you the answers you need.

You still need to do your research but having the tools to simplify your process and give you answers you couldn’t find on your own will go a long way in improving your ranking, traffic and conversion goals.
